DESCRIPTION:TEDx Student Gallery Submission\n“Crossing Paths Gallery” Student Exhibition curated by The East County Art Association\nTheme: “Bridges: Linking Ideas\, Building Unity”\nEvent Date: May 30\, 2026 \nIDEAS AROUND THE THEME FOR INSPIRATION:\nBridges: Linking Ideas\, Building Unity \n\nA symbol to connect entities\nCreated by working together: teamwork can symbolically\nbe represented by a bridge\nA bridge can be the connection itself between different cultures\, different thoughts\, differences\nCreates Unity\, Understanding\, Sharing of Characteristics\nBridges can be a symbol of balance\nA bridge made out of positive words\, like “kindness\, respect\, courage\, understanding” connecting two groups of people.\nCultural Bridge: Sharing cultural traditions and daily rituals with each other to create a better understanding and respect for each other\nAbstract Bridges made of geometric shapes\nConceptual bridges connecting technology and humanity\nSplit composition artwork showing contrast and connection\n\nStudents ages 5–18 (K–12) are invited to submit original artwork inspired by the theme “Bridges: Linking Ideas\, Building Unity.” Consider how bridges connect people\, cultures\, communities\, and ideas. \nELIGIBILITY\nOpen to students ages 5–18(K-12) \nARTWORK SPECIFICATIONS\n• Size must be exactly 8 x 10 inches.\n• Artwork must be created on paper only.\n• Artwork must be ready to display.\n• Do not frame the artwork. \nACCEPTED MEDIA\nGraphite pencil\, colored pencil\, watercolor\, crayons (including oil pastel)\, soft pastel\, gouache\, tempera\, ink\, pen\, acrylic.\nIf using oil paint or acrylic\, students must use oil painting paper or acrylic paper designed for those materials. \nCREATIVE WEDNESDAYS\nDuring Creative Wednesdays\, students are encouraged to join members and the public with their projects to jump start their creative ideas\, receive feedback\, and share inspiration or to receive assistance with matboard and final presentation before submission is due.\nWednesdays\, 3:00–7:00 PM at:  East County Art Association Gallery \n  \nSTUDENT INFORMATION (Attach to back of artwork)\nStudent Name: ______________________________\nGrade: ______________________________\nSchool: ______________________________ \nIMPORTANT DATES  \nDelivery Begins: March 18\, 3-7pm\nSubmission Deadline: May 13th\, 3-7pm\n\nStudents and Parents can submit artwork directly to teacher or to The East County Art Association Gallery.\nTeachers are welcome to submit work for their entire class.\nUpon artwork submission\, artwork release forms will be provided for parents to release artwork for curation\nto the East County Art Association and to the school. DESCRIPTION:AbandonmenTissues – Artist Talk & Exhibition IntroductionBy Alvaro Alvarez \nThe East County Art Association is proud to present AbandonmenTissues\, a Artist Talk and Introduction in gallery 2 of his latest  work for the actual exhibiton in July 10\, curated by artist and architectural designer Alvaro Alvarez On April 4th. \nThis presentation serves as the conceptual introduction to a larger exhibition opening July 10\, at the Main ECAA Gallery  1\,  where Alvarez will unveil a full body of work exploring the complex theme of abandonment. Through a thoughtful series of works  the artist will guide audiences through the creative process behind the project\, examining how the challenges we face both personal and collective can become catalysts for transformation. \nThe Artist will feature two special events: \n\nArtist Talk with Alvaro Alvarez: Exploring the concepts and creative process behind AbandonmenTissues April 4th at 3PM\nOpening Reception: July 10 from 5-8PM at the Main ECAA gallery 1\,  East County Art Association (ECAA) Gallery 124 E Main St\, El Cajon.\n\nAbout the ArtistAlvaro Alvarez holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University (Ithaca\, New York) and a Certification in World Art History from the Smithsonian Institution in Washington\, D.C. His interdisciplinary practice blends art\, architecture\, and social reflection\, creating immersive works that encourage dialogue and new perspectives.
