SUMMARY:Stories Worth Telling- Kim Hannan Solo Exhibition - GALLERY 2
DESCRIPTION:“Stories Worth Telling” — Solo Exhibition by Kim Hannan \nThe East County Art Association is proud to present Stories Worth Telling\, a solo exhibition by fine art photographer and painter Kim Hannan\, running July 1–31 at the Main ECAA Gallery 2. \nThis exhibition brings together two bodies of work united by a single conviction: that the most meaningful art begins with a story worth preserving. Hannan’s Natura Collection\, conservation-inspired works drawn from wildlife\, botanicals\, and travel\, opens with photography captured in nature’s most protected places and is transformed through her signature mixed-media process of oils\, chalks\, pastels\, photographic elements and watercolor into pieces that are at once luminous and enduring. Alongside these works\, landscapes from across America and travels abroad expand the collection’s sense of place — from sweeping domestic vistas to the textures and light of international destinations\, each rendered with the same painterly depth that defines her practice. A curated grouping of portrait paintings from her Masterpiece Collection rounds out the exhibition\, inviting viewers into deeply personal narratives built around meaningful objects and the quiet dignity of a life well lived. \nTogether\, these collections reflect the thread that runs through all of Hannan’s work: the belief that whether the subject is a crane in a wetland\, a sun-drenched hillside in Tuscany\, or a beloved face\, art exists to honor what matters most and pass it forward. \nThe exhibition will feature two special events: \n\nOpening Reception: July 3\, 5-7pm at the Main ECAA Gallery 2\, East County Art Association (ECAA)\, 124 E Main St\, El Cajon\n\n\nAbout the Artist:  Kim Hannan holds a Bachelor of Social Science from Troy University\, grounded by four formative years of study at the University of Kentucky School of Fine Arts\, where she trained in piano\, voice\, and theatrical design. In her mid-forties\, she apprenticed alongside fine art portraitists\, developing a signature mixed-media process that layers oils\, chalks\, pastels\, and watercolor to create works that blend hyperrealism with impressionistic depth. Her perspective was shaped by years of travel as a Navy wife\, a life of movement that deepened her eye for place\, presence\, and the stories that endure. Her Natura Collection follows conservation photography from the field to the canvas; her Masterpiece Collection transforms meaningful objects and personal legacy into heirloom portraiture. In all her work\, Hannan creates for the spaces\, and the lives\, where stories continue to unfold.

SUMMARY:AbandonmenTissues Exhibition Gallery 1
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Reception – July 10 from 5 to 8PM.AbandonmenTissues by Alvaro Alvarez \nThe East County Art Association is proud to present the Opening Reception of AbandonmenTissues on July 10\, a powerful exhibition by artist and architectural designer Alvaro Alvarez in ECAA  Gallery 1. \nAt the heart of this exhibition is Alvarez’s creative process of recycling and transformation. Through his work\, objects often perceived as discarded or worthless are reimagined into compelling works of art. Materials once considered trash are carefully reassembled and transformed\, revealing unexpected beauty and meaning. \nFor Alvarez\, this process carries a powerful message: problems are also opportunities. By reclaiming abandoned materials\, the artist demonstrates how challenges whether environmental or personal can become the foundation for creativity\, reflection\, and renewal. \nRather than passing judgment or pointing fingers\, AbandonmenTissues seeks to inspire action through creativity. Just as Alvarez discovered in recycling a personal way to respond to environmental concerns\, each visitor is invited to reflect on their own worries and challenges\, and imagine how they too might transform them into something meaningful. \nAlvarez’s practice is also deeply connected to ocean and environmental conservation\, using recycled materials as a way to highlight the importance of reducing waste and protecting our natural ecosystems. Through this artistic approach\, the exhibition connects creative expression with environmental awareness\, encouraging viewers to rethink the relationship between consumption\, waste\, and the health of our planet. \nThe Grand Opening Reception on July 10 launches a months-long exhibition and will feature special activations designed to reinforce the artist’s central thesis: difficulties hold unlimited potential. Through art\, dialogue\, and immersive experiences\, visitors will witness how creativity can flourish even in adversity\, motivating us to imagine new possibilities for ourselves\, our communities\, and the environment. \nAbandonmenTissues ultimately reclaims creativity as a tool for action\, addressing the challenges of our time from environmental concerns to the most intimate inner battles and inviting audiences to see transformation not only in art\, but in life itself. \nAbout  Alvaro Alvarez- Alvaro  holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University (Ithaca\, New York) and a Certification in World Art History from the Smithsonian Institution in Washington\, D.C. His interdisciplinary practice blends art\, architecture\, and social reflection\, creating immersive works that encourage dialogue and new perspectives. \nIs a Free event ! for more information Contact  Linda Baltodano President ECAA  (619)499-7758
