Exhibition Title: AbandonmenTissues by Alvaro Alvarez
The East County Art Association is proud to present AbandonmenTissues, a curated exhibition by artist and architectural designer Alvaro Alvarez, on view during April and May at the East County Art Association Gallery in El Cajon. The exhibition explores how creativity can transform the challenges of our time from environmental concerns to deeply personal struggles into opportunities for reflection, resilience, and action.
Through a powerful collection of contemporary works, Alvarez invites viewers to reconsider the concept of abandonment and reflect on what society may have left behind: our sense of responsibility, our connection to the environment, and even our connection to ourselves. AbandonmenTissues proposes that challenges can become the raw materials for rebuilding and imagining new possibilities.
The exhibition will feature two special events, including the Opening Reception on Saturday, April 4, where visitors will experience curated activations designed to reinforce the artist’s thesis that creativity can flourish even in adversity. Close Reception Saturday May 16
Alvaro Alvarez holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University (Ithaca, New York) and a Certification in World Art History from the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. His interdisciplinary practice blends art, architecture, and social reflection, creating immersive works that encourage dialogue and new perspectives.
