Basic Pastel Painting

1. Focus – How to use dry pastel sticks with a brief introduction to pan pastels and pencils to
create a painting.

2. Artistic techniques – Sketching scene or subject, underpainting, and use of color to complete
your painting. Do’s and don’ts of using pastels including type of paper, blending, and layering
color.
3. Themes – Landscapes, Still life, or subject of participant’s choice from a printed photo
