La Vida Azul   Bem’s Solo Exhibition

One year ago, I received the greatest gift of my life a second chance through a kidney transplant. This exhibition is deeply personal to me because it reflects not only my healing journey, but also the connection I have always felt with the ocean and its living ecosystems.

As an artist, and lover of marine life, I began seeing coral reefs in a completely different way during my recovery. Reefs are the life source of the ocean. They protect, nurture, restore, and sustain thousands of marine species, much like our organs sustain us from within. That connection inspired this new body of work.

Through vibrant underwater imagery, flowing seaweed, reef formations, and symbolic compositions, I explore themes of endurance, healing, gratitude, and renewal. Many of these paintings carry subtle references to the human body and to the strength it takes to survive difficult moments while still finding beauty in life.

Creating this collection became part of my healing process. After years of illness, dialysis, uncertainty, and waiting, I found myself returning to what has always brought me peace, the ocean. The movement, colors, light, and life beneath the surface reminded me to keep enduring.

“La Vida Azul” is more than an art exhibition. It is a celebration of life, resilience, second chances, and the people who helped me stay afloat during some of my darkest moments. It is also a reminder of how deeply connected we are to nature and how much healing can be found through art, community, and the ocean itself.
